Adopt / Foster

How You Can Help

When you adopt from the Hudson Valley SPCA, you not only provide a home to an an animal in need, you create space in our shelter so that we can save other animals!

Not sure if you are ready to adopt? Why not become a foster parent? Fostering helps provide our dogs and cats with a home away from the stresses of a shelter, while we continue to pursue a permanent adoptive family for that animal. What is more, the expenses associated with fostering are tax deductible!

Volunteer

A wide range of events are held throughout the year â€‹to benefit the HVSPCA. Participating in our events is a great way to support our shelter while having fun with friends and family.

Interested in hosting an event of your own to help the HVSPCA? Consider a small fundraiser or supply drive at a family party or in conjunction with a local business. If you decide to hold a public event, be sure to let us know so that we can help you market it!

Donate

The Hudson Valley SPCA does not receive funding from
federal, state or local municipalities, or from the national organization, the ASPCA. Our work is funded solely by donations from our generous supporters. With more than 75% of all cash donations going directly to animal care and the balance going to support services, you can feel secure that your donations to the HVSPCA make significant differences in the health and welfare of the animals we rescue!

Many of our supporters help us with in-kind donations such as day-to-day supplies. These contributions help keep our business running each and every day! Products we use regularly include:

- Purina Dry Cat Chow

- Pedigree Dry or Purina Dry Dog Chow
- Pine cat litter (e.g. Feline Pine, Equine Pine)
- Wet Dog Food
- Bleach
- Laundry detergent
- Lysol, Fabuloso or Odo Ban cleaners
- Paper towels
- Garbage bags
- Sponges, mops and buckets
- Comforters, towels and sheets
- Plastic storage bins
- Kitten feedings kits (baby bottles for orphaned kittens)

Attend Our Events

More than 75% of those who work at our shelter do so on a volunteer basis! People who can help us with dog walking, cat care, landscaping, fund raising and overall administration are always needed!

If you can you spare a couple of hours per week to help homeless animals, call us at (845)564-6810 to set up an orientation! Working with us is also a great way to complete community service requirements for school projects or confirmation preparation!
